FEES is the gold standard of evaluation, allowing for superior imagery to effectively diagnose dysphagia and develop patient-centered treatment plans, to improve outcomes. Flexible Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing (FEES), is a technique established to enable better examinations of a patient’s physiology. With a clear HD image, this exam allows a Speech-Language Pathologist to visualize, evaluate and diagnose a person’s swallow function inside a patient’s throat. This evaluation will lead to accurate diagnosis, appropriate diet recommendation, and functional patient-center treatment.
The FEES evaluation involves passing a small, flexible endoscope through a patient’s nasal passage, into the back of their throat, in order to visualize as swallowing takes place.
